Job Description

Quantity Surveyor Job Specification

  • Subcontract tenders for infrastructure works - including Roads, Sewers, Substations, pumping stations, structures (bridges), S278 works, cut and fill, bespoke retaining walls and the like
  • Writing scope of works documents for subcontracts with help from the Commercial Manager
  • Obtaining budget costs for areas of infrastructure from multiple subcontractors / consultants
  • Cross checking design / S106 works with cost consultants / statutory authorities
  • Subcontractor valuations on site
  • Completion of detailed subcontract comparisons complete with risk analysis
  • Raising of subcontract orders via COINS
  • Subcontractor payments via COINS
  • Raising of consultant orders / variations via COINS
  • Consultant payments / record keeping via excel and COINS
  • Completion of Subcontractor interim final accounts and final accounts
  • Logging and issuing monthly payment logs to third parties
  • Helping to update the costs plan with detailed analysis through research and obtaining up to date costs
  • Attending monthly progress meetings on site
  • Attending monthly client meetings
  • Helping to compile data / costs to enable the Commercial Manager to produce monthly commercial reports for the board & JV Partner
  • Providing information in the form of reports and documents to 3rd parties
  • Engaging with solicitors for the completion of warranties / legal advice where appropriate
  • Assistance in completing land payments on time
  • Assistance in completing invoices on time (3rd Party house builders, Network rail etc)
  • Keeping an up to date the services budget at all times.
  • Keeping an up to date summary of all orders raised on COINS so this information can be issued to 3rd Parties.

You will need effective communication skills, verbal and electronic to enable you to communicate effectively with the following people:

  • Auditors
  • Land Owner Group
  • Local Councils
  • Land agent
  • 3rd Party House Builders
  • Organising and minor project management for subcontractors

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Degree qualified in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying
  • Good Excel Skills
  • Good Word Skills
  • Excellent record keeping
