Job Description

Quantity Surveyor, Oxfordshire - £50,000 - £60,000

My client, a well-established construction business that mainly focuses on residential developments across the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Berkshire and Middlesex regions, is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team at their offices based in Oxfordshire. Reporting to the Senior QS, the ideal candidate will have the ability to manage a number of developments at any one time and will involve management of all costs relating to the initial calculations through to final figures.

My client is one of those construction companies that does not aspire to be a volume house builder but instead focuses on select developments, taking pride in the quality of the homes they build and their exceptional standards of customer service.

You will be involved in a project from the start, preparing estimates and costs of the work. When the project is in progress, you'll keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability as well as asses viability of future sites and their potential to be improved upon

Other key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of residential development and the processes adopted by housebuilders.
  • Must be able to carry out material take-offs and schedule components for tendering and for checking quotations received.
  • Must be able to carry out on site measurement in order to check subcontractor applications for payment. The measurement of quantities from drawings is a prerequisite requirement.

The Quantity Surveyor appointed is expected to carry out commercial activities including but not limited to:

  • The tendering of subcontract packages including analysis of received quotations and production of subcontract orders for Commercial Directors' approval.
  • The tendering of material packages including analysis of received quotations and production of purchase orders for Commercial Directors' approval.
  • The checking of and subsequent processing of subcontractor applications for payment and supplier invoices.
